The latest update by the National Hurricane Center reveals that Hurricane Lee has undergone a significant intensification in the past 36 hours. Currently, the Hurricane is located 630 miles east of the North Leeward Islands and is moving at a speed of approximately 14 mph towards the West North West. With sustained winds of around 165mph, gusting near 200mph, the Hurricane is expected to cause massive destruction in its path.

However, the good news is that Hurricane Lee is presently steering away from land, and there is no immediate threat of landfall. The National Hurricane Center is closely monitoring the Hurricane's path, and while it is challenging to predict the level of impact Lee might have along the U.S. East Coast, the center is advising Floridians to stay alert and monitor updates to Lee's forecast during the next several days.

The Hurricane is expected to slow down considerably over the southwestern Atlantic, and this might lead to dangerous surf and rip currents along most of the U.S. East Coast beginning Sunday. Computer models show Lee taking a turn to the north early next week, but the exact timing of the turn and the extent to which it will track west will play a crucial role in determining how close it will get to the East Coast of Florida.
